How can I learn more about the data in this app?
A player row in the Draft Punk app contains tons of data and insights. This diagram will help explain each piece. The app has a glossary link that helps explain more about things like Risk, Dropoff, VOR, etc as well as sorting / filtering and other fantasy football terminology.

Why is VOR ranking better than the default ranking?
The rankings in this app assume default scoring settings. Most leagues do not use the defaults (maybe close, but not exact). Therefore, it's better to generate projected fantasy points for each player and then rank them based on their value over replacement. This way you are viewing the ranking of players based on your league and most likely you will have an advantage over your opponents who will use rankings that do not reflect your scoring.

Can you assign a player to a specific team?
Yes, you can assign a player to any team under the menu when drafting. You can also override the auto team assignment in the results tab under the menu.

Is there mock draft support?
Yes, you can test your drafting strategies with the Mock Draft simulator. The Pro version allows unlimited simulated drafts.

What's the percentage next to a player's name? (odds)
You may notice a percentage next to a player's name when it's your pick. Draft Punk simulates the picks your opponents will make (over 200 times) between the current pick and your next pick. It gives you a sense if a player is going to get drafted right after your pick or if you can wait and snatch them up next time. You can enable / disable this in the Beta Features section.

Is there support for individual defensive players (IDP)?
The Pro version includes IDP. To see them, when you create a draft, you need to add at least some starting LB, DL, or DB positions first. Then when it loads, you will see defensive players.

Can I transfer a draft across devices?
In the Manage Drafts screen you can Export any draft. It lists a code that then can be entered on your other device. Go to your Manage Drafts screen on the other device and view the menu to see the option to Import.

I upgraded to Pro, but it still shows Free
The upgrade should apply right away. If it's not, trying fully killing the app and reopening it. To kill app, go to your phone's settings, then "Apps" or "Manage applications" (depends on phone), find Draft Punk in the list, and select "Force stop". That often clears any cache and should help.

How do I draft players?
This app is a companion during draft day. You can use it to track who's been drafted in your league by swiping on the player. The app will auto-assign the drafted team using your league's drafting style.

Is the Pro upgrade yearly or forever?
The upgrade is intented to be a yearly purchase. The main reason is because I need to purchase rankings data every year. It also helps support my time updating the app with new features.

You're missing X scoring setting
I try to add many scoring settings, but every league does something different, and I got a lot of requests. I may be able to add some of the most common, but won't be able to just keep adding more and more. Some settings like return yards are really difficult to project and therefore hard to include for me.

X player is missing?
I use the top 1000 ranked players. It's possible this player is outside that list. If you know he should be there, search the player by clicking the screen icon at the top right and begin typing their name. You can also add missing players. Hit menu, add during the draft.

How are the pick recommendations determined?
Pick Recommendation Engine Details

When it's your turn, a new bottom panel shows you up to 5 player recommendations to help you draft an optimal lineup.

The current recommendation engine considers:
  1. Team Positional Needs
  2. League Position Scarcity
  3. Prefers to suggest starters before bench players
  4. Prefers low risk players at beginning of draft and then riskier players later
  5. Tries to avoid by week conflicts and find a similar positional player without a conflict

The engine uses monte carlo simulations and multiple objective optimization. The engine will also look at different attributes at different times in the draft. For instance may look to optimize player points while minimizing risk in the earlier rounds (and for starters). But in the later rounds, may try to maximize player point ceiling with allowing for more player risk.

The recommendation engine is still in development and will get more accurate over time

Is there support for Auction leagues?
Not yet, but I would like to add it. I need a way to calculate projected dollar values for each player.

Can you further customize the rankings?
Yes! In the draft settings screen, look for the "edit rankings" button. Here you can exclude, include, and drag and drop players.

How often do you update the rankings?
The rankings are updated a few times a week. Use the "update" icon to get the latest. For pro users, Depth charts and injury notes are also updated a few times a week.

What's ADP?
That's average draft position. In other words where users are typically drafting a player. It's a good metric to make sure you aren't drafting someone too early.

I love your work, where can I donate?
Thanks for the support! Feel free to purchase the "pro" version of the app to support my efforts.

Who are you?
My name is Josh, I'm from San Francisco, and I write Android apps in my spare time (started in 2008). I've been playing fantasy sports since 1997 and usually play in around 2-3 fantasy football leagues. I originally wrote this app for one of my leagues and now this is the 10th year of Draft Punk!
