Tampa Bay Buccaneers

NFC South | Bye Week: 9

Season Preview

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers head into the 2025 NFL season as heavy favorites in the NFC South, aiming for their fifth straight division title. General Manager Jason Licht focused on maintaining the team's core while bolstering their defense, particularly the pass rush and secondary. The addition of edge rusher Haason Reddick and two corners in the draft should help shore up defensive weaknesses. Offensively, they ranked third in yardage and fourth in scoring last season, and with a solid supporting cast returning, they are poised to keep lighting up the scoreboard in 2025.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield is the unquestioned offensive leader. After a career-best 2024 where he threw for 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns while also rushing for 378 yards, Mayfield is considered a top-5 fantasy QB heading into this year. His improved decision-making under pressure and consistent efficiency (68.5% completion rate under pressure) give fantasy managers confidence in his upside, even with new offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard maintaining offensive continuity.

In the backfield, Bucky Irving emerges as the lead running back after an impressive rookie season totaling 1,513 scrimmage yards and eight touchdowns. His high yards-per-touch numbers and consistent weekly performances have solidified his role as a reliable RB1 candidate in fantasy football. Rachaad White remains a valuable complementary piece, especially in the red zone and passing game, making him a strong handcuff and potential flex option.

The receiving corps blends proven veterans and promising youth. Mike Evans continues to be a reliable WR1 option despite entering his age-31 season, never having had fewer than 1,000 yards in a campaign. Chris Godwin returns from a significant ankle injury, expected to contribute as a skilled WR3 or WR4 in fantasy lineups. Rookie Emeka Egbuka and second-year receiver Jalen McMillan add depth and upside in the slot and outside positions. Tight end Cade Otton offers TE2 potential in a crowded receiving group. The offensive line, while solid, will miss LT Tristan Wirfs for the first four games due to injury but otherwise remains a strength as it supports this high-powered offense.
