Tennessee Titans

AFC South | Bye Week: 10

Season Preview

The Tennessee Titans enter the 2025 season in the midst of a significant transition, led by their highly anticipated rookie quarterback, Cam Ward, the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Ward brings a dynamic arm and strong accuracy on short and intermediate routes, representing a clear upgrade over Will Levis, who struggled for consistency last year. Under second-year head coach Brian Callahan, the Titans hope Ward will inject energy and leadership into a franchise that finished 2024 with only three wins and ranked 26th in passing offense. Ward's clutch playmaking ability and confidence to lead a turnaround make him the focal point of the Titans' new era.

On offense, the Titans will continue to rely heavily on a strong rushing attack, which averaged 109.1 yards per game last season. Tony Pollard is expected to remain the feature back after a solid 2024 season with over 1,000 rushing yards and 41 catches, while Tyjae Spears, if healthy, serves as a valuable complementary back. However, Spears suffered a high-ankle sprain in training camp, and his availability early in the season is uncertain, forcing the Titans to keep depth at running back to support Pollard and maintain their ground game effectiveness. Wide receiver corps saw significant changes with key additions like Tyler Lockett and Van Jefferson replacing former starters Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Tyler Boyd, which could help open up the passing game for Ward.

The Titans’ skill position group now blends veteran presence and emerging talent, aiming to boost the passing offense from their 2024 bottom-tier ranking. Tight ends like Chig Okonkwo and Gunnar Helm are projected to contribute in both blocking and receiving roles. The offensive plan under Callahan is likely to feature a balanced approach early on, gradually integrating Ward into a system designed to maximize his strengths while leaning on the run game to control tempo. The schedule may present some challenges, but with roster improvements and a fresh quarterback, fantasy managers and Titans fans alike should expect a more relevant and competitive offense in 2025.

Defensively, the Titans face questions, particularly at linebacker, where veteran contributors from last season are gone, and the replacements have limited experience. Though the defensive line’s interior still looks capable enough to pressure opposing offenses and support run defense, the overall unit has vulnerabilities that could lead to strain on the offense. With no major coaching changes and a front office focused on a long-term rebuild, the Titans’ path to modest improvement appears realistic as they aim to increase their win total from last season's low mark. Ultimately, the 2025 season will be a critical development year for this reimagined Titans roster centered on Cam Ward’s growth and the supporting cast stepping up to make a playoff push more than just a hope.
